Contacted on dead plants, returned laboe and dead plants. Only si they knew I wasn't ripping then off. They sent me my dead plants back. Catalog says one thing on returns and they tell u to allow 14 days to grow. Umm then shipping info says to allow 6 to 8 weeks. Won't give u money back. Send u dead product over n over. Never again. I want my money back. This is not a reputable company.

I ordered a pack of 6 roses. One was totally dead/brown/brittle with fungus growing on it. I requested a replacement. It arrived dead/brown/brittle. When I called customer service I was told to scratch the stem...it was brown to a depth of 1/4 inch. I emailed customer care asking to have a name & number of a responsible person I could talk to, I was told that plants are shipped in hibernation and that I should plant this dead rose. Add to this, about a third of my order never grew at all and I am one pissed off customer.

Dead bushes, refund me please, it'll be frozen ground by the time i get any delivered again

MIKE the man who answers the customer service phone for Burgess needs a new job! Rude and unhelpful he is! Did business with Burgess quite a few months ago and nothing lived that was received. Their policy is they will replace within 15 days after receipt. I should have know right their this was a sham! I am going to try his solution and hope you this company does the right thing. At this point it's quite doubtful in my humble opinion that anything Burgess does will be satisfactory. I just want my money back and to never do business with this so called company ever again. I wasted my time and money with Burgess and they made no attempt to make it right. I have to do all the leg work and maybe you'll offer customer service. By the way your employee Mike told me he was volunteering the cost of the plants and that he didn't have to. Great customer service you all have NOT!!!!!! I'm very displeased with this entire ordeal and when and if this is ever solved I won't trouble your company ever again. This is an unhappy customer and your policy, methods, and poor customer service are why. I should have read more into this, I though you were a reputable company. Your return policy to return the exact label and not a picture of copy of it electronically is archaic and just plain bad customer service. I sent a picture of it anyway! I ordered a tomato plant package and some strawberries. The tomato plants arrived a month and 1/2 after ordering and most were dead and the others unhealthy to the point that they are going to take most of the growing season to even get to a decent size.

I doubt if they will be able to produce before the frost. I was told they would be shipped at the proper time for planting and they arrived after the chance of frost had gone by (by 2 weeks). I still have not received the strawberries and the ones I have are already producing. Shipping cost is high and they came by snail delivery.

They were packaged loosely and had no protection to keep the 2 inch plant stems from being broken. I tried to contact them and the phone is always busy. I e-mailed them and have not gotten anything but it takes 2 to 3 weeks processing.......

I will never buy from this company again. Their guarantee is worthless too.

Know What You're Getting--Not Worth It

Usually we are smart enough to check ratings before making a purchase, but for whatever reason, we didn't do it this time. We had heard the Burgess name and liked the prices.

Whether or not what we bought will live remains to be seen. However, we will NEVER go this route again. We spent $121 on a few seeds (they were fine and came earlier) and plants that look mostly dead and/or so small it will take years before they looked the way we hoped. We placed our order the third week of April and after threatening to cancel it the first part of June, we were notified it would be delivered.

It arrived June 6th, which in our opinion, is past the planting season in our area. It is 90 degrees today (admittedly, a little hotter than normal) but still past the best time for planting.

According to the Burgess Seed and Plant Company FAQ, if you are not satisfied with the received item, you may return it with the original shipping label within 1 year of receipt for a free replacement.
So as to get a refund of the purchase price, you need to return the item and the original shipping label, with the correct postage affixed, within 14 days of receipt.
Please note that each order is processed within 1-2 weeks. Seeds and Merchandise are normally shipped as soon as processing is completed.

Dishonest and outright stupid.

I mailed them the dead plants with the original packing slip and an explanation. I paid for the return out of pocket.

I followed all their rules regarding refund for dead plants. After weeks of silence I emailed an inquiry. Eventually I was sent an email by a Ms. Phelps who told me that I don't qualify for a refund because these plants from a "replacement order".

This was a total lie. Half the plants from the original order were dead dry upon arrival. According to Burgess own rules I qualified for a refund. These people are untrustworthy, as they lie and do not follow their own rules.

They also pretended to have a hard time finding my order. This a total scam and they should not be in business!

I ordered from this company because they had the blue moon roses. I ordered 4 roses.

Different colors. I got my order a few month later. They sent my roses but one one was the color I ordered. I sent the labels and everything they needed back.

I just received my replacement and out of the 3 roses. One is right. I now have 4 different color pink roses. And no blue moon.

This was my mother’s favorite rose. I am so mad. These are one one rose that was died. That is what it looked like when I received it.

Find a better company.

I am not a complainer. But this needs to be told.

Rip off artists and full scam

Company sends dead products, operates their business by internet - Accept orders, payments, send order confirmations and shipping notifications - all via the internet and for their benefit.

But when customer receive dead and rotted plants, they claim they are not tech savy enough to accept complaints, replacement and refund requests via email ( the same methode they use to operate the rest of their business and receive your cash) but make you send all this info via snail mail!

THen they take 8-10 weeks to process your replacements - and then send you more dead rotting bulbs. They offer to replace them again, but in another 8-10 weeks, its too late to plant! or as a "Bonus" i can receive a voucher to wait an entire year to get more dead bulbs next season - No thanks!

Stay away from this company! As other pointed out, for a refund, you only have 14 days, but if your planting bulbs (unless they are completely black and rotted like mine) you wont know untl after the 14 days. Phone is constandly busy and hard to get through - probably from the thousands of dissatisfied customer calling constantly!

Also this business operates under many names - which also should tell you something (Royal Dutch Gardens, Dutch Gardens, Burgess Seed, Holland Bulbs) - they are all the same scammers stealing peoples hard earned money.

Pass this on to all friends and family. I only wish I had seen some notice before wasting my $60 - Thankfully it wasnt more. I had already ordered about $500 worth of plants between 3 other companies, all of which were good and reputable with quality product. This business shoudl be forced to shut down.

Took my money the day I sent order in , but 3 weeks still no potatoes. Phone lines are constantly busy, I suspect phone off the hook. Don't waste your money with Burgess Seeds.

Not getting service

I bought asparagus as well as Maypops and Thornless blackberries from this company and of everything I bought only 1 thing has grown as stated. My asparagus is doing great, my Maypops, well to put it kindly were looking good the day they arrived and before 12 hours was up 1 of the 2 of them was dead ! And my Blackberries were planted for 6 weeks before 1 of them finally came up from the roots ! All the plants died and 1 root survived. Now I am told by them I have to wait until next year some time before they can ship me any replacements plants ! Their year guarantee is worthless now I have to wait another 8 months before I may get what I already paid for ! I have been in constant contact with them telling them what I was seeing going on . Still after doing everything they ask me to do I get the run around, why can 't they sent me my blackberry plants this fall ? I am totally upset with them and will not be doing business with them in the future. Sad they have my money for 10 months before I may get my plants to see if they will grow again !

I ordered a significant number of plants which I planted immediately. Very few of them lived. Burgess said they would replace them if I sent them the original shipping label, which I did. They sent it back to me asking me to give their plants a chance, which I did. I mailed the shipping label back to them and they sent it back to me again and have not replaced any of the many plants they sent that died. Don’t do business with them!

It took 6 weeks to receive the bushes I ordered. When I finally received them the package was slit open and done contents removed.

Planting guideline never received. Called company and they said I HAD TO RETURN their stupid label. Insult to injury. Imagine that long wait, products missing, package slit open and these clowns want me to fix it my sending their stupid label back.

I spoke to a supervisor and she said it’s our policy and I can’t change it. Customer service SUCKS at this business. I will NEVER do business with them again. They didn’t make an attempt to please the customer.

Never never again.

A very poor customer response! Voting with my wallet and feet!!!!

It took almost 3 months to receive my plants (I had to contact them in order to get them shipped) and by then it was late in the season to plant. I soaked the plants as instructed prior to planting and only about 10% survived. I had order 10 privets and some were 2 feet tall and others 4 inches. The small ones didn't survive. Everything I received was mostly dead when they arrived. I returned the items that died per the instructions received with my order and have yet to hear back from the company a month later after 3 requests to them.The phone number on the web site is invalid so the only contact method is by email and they never respond. I would never recommend ordering from this company.

I have ordered from this company for over 25 years I ordered this year and have not received my order that was placed on April 9 2018 I then sent my order to them with their order form and a check and have not received anything nor did I get my check back nor any thing from my credit card

can not get ahold of them on any of their phone numbers including four seasons which is another one of their companies nothing from emails .What the *** is going on? Did they go out of Business are they a fraud company are they over staffed understaffed don't give a crap now? not happy with them is anyone else having problems Sad

Do not do business with Deanne M Alsman, AKA, Deanne M College and any of her dozen internet theft companies and be ready to file a complaint with the Illinois AG and the BBB, maybe federal consumer protection won't hurt either. All of the companies are operated out of an apartment complex or an empty field.

Ordered 6 map!es, a redbud, and 20 conifers in early april. The maples and redbud arrived in very obviously brittle and dead and the conifers were covered in white mold...all dead, at the end of june. After talking to customer service, i clipped my label and asked for a replacment or refund. It is is now aug and nothing. Service and communication is terrible! After reading reviews, shame on me for ever ordering. Never again.
