Outright scam.

Ordered $175.00 worth seeds plants etc some four months ago. Waited and waited for my order. Finally received "certificate" for the amount ordered. Called and called for three days and finally got a person on the phone (spoke little English) and was told to send the certificate back for a refund. Its been over four weeks now and no refund. Today I received a package (billed for 69.00) of plants that are on their last breath. Still no refund. E-mailed the co today and hopefully can place in small claims court for a judgement. I'm contacting all the companies that they sent certificates (gift certificates) in their order and providing them with facts about this company, so that hopefully others will know what is going on. Wish I had read their reviews first.

They would not respond

I was serious about ordering from them they seemed to have a lot of products that I wanted that I could not find elsewhere, but with all the overwhelming number of complaints, I decided to write to them to see why, I know you can't everyone happy, and with a large company there are going to be some that a dissatisfied. So, I wrote to them a week or more ago to see why so many complaints. Maybe there was a real explanation, They have never responded back. Maybe they are way to busy filling orders and just have not had the time. But if that is the case, then the customer support would be at the bottom end Even if they would have made up a good lie I may have still ordered, but to just not respond, tells me that all the complaints are true. I am sure me not ordering will not hurt them in anyway, but maybe if the word gets out and sales start to go down, then maybe they make some changes or not. So wont be ordering from them.

A horrible business

last year I placed an order with Burgess Seed, the order was never filled. the company never returned the $67 order. Their Customer Service is terrible. They are the most disrespectful group to deal with. I sent letters, emails and called to get nothing. I placed orders with Jung and Gurneys to have them filled and shipped in one week. these plants are doing fine. Why is the Illinois Attorney Generals office not stepping in? Customer Service says they never received my request for money back and yet it is on all my emails sent to them. Hey Illinois Attorney General, please check out this business, they make Illinois look really bad. They are nothing but thieves!

could not get a confirmation on my order, but they charged my credit card right away. can't talk to anybody in the main office. you just talk to people that don't know what they are doing! never had a company so hard to deal with!! BUYER BEWARE--catalog is misleading

Plants & trees are not sent! They are roots, twigs or dried foliage. Bulbs are as expected. After contacting the company, I was asked did I expect to receive a tree or shrub? My response: not a full grown but more than a twig. When I wanted to cancel the items that weren't shipped & won't be available until Spring 2018, I was told to write a letter. WHY?!!! They didn't ship & I shouldn't be charged for items I didn't get!! It'll be interesting to see if the items I did get will last until spring. Wish I read reviews first!!!!

They make it hard to replace due to their stupid rule of having your "original" shipping label when they have ALL your info on file!

This is the stupidest rule I ever delt with! They can see just what you ordered on their computers but refuse to replace ANYTHING without their shipping order. NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN !!! {{Redacted}}

Crooks in the meaning of the word!!!

Crooks in the meaning of the word. Customer service is hard headed, impossible to deal with and underhanded conduct. We ordered 3 red oak, 4 sugar maple, and 4 scarlet maple trees. Also, 9 blackberry plant. When we recieved the trees, we recieved the red oak trees and blackberries in one bag, and a couple weeks later we recieved the rest. It took sonlong for them to send anynof it that we thought they had forgotton or misplaced our order. We ordered in late march and dint reieve the first shipment until almost june. They claimed they had to wait for the plants to be in season to ship them....never heard that before. ALL the trees and plants appeared dead when they arrived, even a scratch test verified this. We called and told them but were instructed to plant them anyway because "many of our plants arrive dormant". They also sent a instruction and explanation paper to us saying the same thing. Also that if we wanted a refund we could send the plants back with the original shipping label, which was basically destroyed upon arrival on both packages. We were told we had to have them in the ground for at least 4 weeks before a refund was even considered. We did as they said. The plants never came to life even after very careful attention. Again we called and demanded a refund, and that the labels were destroyed before they arrived. They told us that we could send the reciept and a copy of the bank transaction along with the trees and woykd honor a refund. We did that. We waited and waited...never a response. Called again after 3-4 weeks and they said they hadnt gotten our return. We knew this was bs and demanded again that they look for it. A week later we called AGAIN and they admitted that they have our return but havnt gotten to processing it yet. A couple weeks later we called AGAIN and they siad we didnt have the reciept or copy of the bank transaction in the bag. AGAIN we KNEW that was BS. We told them we've had enough of the runaround and want our money back NOW. They offered replacements and we said "NO! YOU SEND YOUR PLANTS DEAD, WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!" Even after they had promised a refund after providing what they asked, they still wouldnt do it. All they could do is honor credit to thier company. Again we said " no, you send your plants dead, we dont want anything from you except for our money back!!!!!" They insisted they cant do that and the only option is a credit to the company. We said " fine then, it better be in in our hands within a week". That was over a month ago and we still havnt gotten any notification or response from them. We have reported them to the better business bureau and found out that there are countless other complaints to the BBB. This company needs to be shut down amd sued for all they have and return every cent back to the thousands of customers they've conned. Help us shut this place down!!!!

My plants came dead. I never received the Iris bulbs. The woman on the customer service desk told me without the shipping label there is nothing they can do. She told me the only way they could help me was by mail. No calls, no email. I told her I have pictures of the plants when they arrived. She said I would have to send them copies of the payment receipt. I explained since the plants were paid for and shipped they would already have that information. She did not agree. She was not any help. I got the feeling she tells people the same thing every day. They don't want to help anyone after the sale. I want my money back or my bulbs. I will never do business with them again. Terrible company, no customer service.

Ordered 100 perrwinckel bulk plant and 50 pholx plants. Pholx all rotten and full of bugs. 5 out of 100 good rest dried out and fell apart in my hands. Never again will order from them!

Initial order for Red and Yellow sedum arrived 6 weeks late and most plants were dead. After countless calls they told me that they would honor the warranty , but, wait until 1 month before end of warranty period. I sent in shipping label with request for replacement with a signature request. After countless calls they agreed the request got there in time, but, they were busy and did not get it posted until after the warranty period. No refund or replacement. They never answer the phone and do NOT respond to email . Stay away.. Crooks. They do not honor any of their terms. Liars
